The script for this show was dreadful. But the producer is Lorne Michaels, who nabbed Christina Applegate. She’s not particularly funny, but she’s famous, so the pilot gets picked up despite lousy script. New show runner added, script changes a lot, but still lousy, show goes to series.
Now they’ve got an order for 13, and are still overhauling the show. Which is leading off wednesday night.
